Hey, I’m Maya.
I’m a marketer by day and a career coach by night. I spent the last 15 years building what I consider a fulfilling career while helping others do the same.
In the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with dozens of professionals about their career challenges, and one thing became apparent—recruiting is broken. The processes and tools recruiters have been using for decades haven’t evolved with the times, and they don’t work anymore. I’ve seen talented individuals with outstanding skills struggling to get noticed and get high-leverage jobs. At the same time, many professionals with demonstrated abilities don’t even have access to equal opportunities.
When I first met with the Jumpstart team, I got a glimpse into the future where companies make a deliberate effort to find underrepresented talent to build more diverse workforces. It’s also a world where candidates are empowered to go beyond a standard resume and share their whole selves in a way that allows them to stand out.
This team is an inspiring group of people who believe there’s a way to make recruiting fair for everyone. It’s a community that believes there is a way to level the playing field and empower both employers and employees to do better.
That’s why I’m very excited to join Jumpstart as the VP of Marketing to help change the status quo and redefine what a truly diverse, equitable, and inclusive recruiting process looks like. I’m also proud to be part of a movement that aims to make recruiting fair for all, and I encourage you to keep an eye out for what’s to come.
After everything we have experienced in 2020, recruiting will never be the same. This is the best time to join the revolution.
